XML NEWS CAROUSEL WITH MODAL READER WINDOW - AS3

A sexy looking news carousel for loading into your website template as a separate module, or simply using as a stand alone signature news page. This components is very easy to edit via the accompanying XML file. All associated articles open in a “Lightbox” or “Modal Reader”.

As usual Photoshop templates are included for ease of image preparation. I am also available to answer any question you may have about the file, as per usual. Just leave a comment below.

FEATURES

Carousel:

• Add / Delete items though XML ;
• Add highlight tags to any item, color and tag text is chosen in the xml file.
• Rollover color of news items edited in the xml
• Change all post Item data in XML file
• Option to Include/omit images in news Items.
• Clicking news items can either launch the “Modal Reader” or open an external link.
• Articles content and images are loaded via XML ;
• Left and right arrows navigate to older/newer posts.
• Option to show a summary of the article upon item rollover.

Modal Reader:

• Loads an image and text from xml.
• The Modal Reader resizes to fit text up to a max size
• Max size for Modal Reader set in the xml
• Ability to scroll the text when the Modal Reader reaches maximum size.
• Option to omit image
• Text supports hyperlinks and other html mark up.

General

• Background Image option in XML , with ramdom image selection on first load.
• Photoshop template files included to help prepare images required by this component.
• ADDED _TO_STAGE event included in the file for ease of inserting in to another flash file.
• This file has only 1 frame and all actions are on this first frame on the timeline.
• Written in extensively commented Actionscript 3.

Notes

Thanks to Photos8.com for some of the images. The fonts used in this file are Helvetica Neue LT Pro, Myriad Pro and FFF _Corporate, which are not included in the download package. This file uses Tweener, which is included in the download package.
