I’m having trouble with the Twitter Reader setup, can you help?
Download the Twitter Reader Checklist and follow the steps carefully.
Also check that:
- You have not changed the proxy.php file.
- You have placed the proxy.php file onto your server.
- You have placed the full path to this php file into the correct place in the main.xml file (eg of full path: http://www.mydomain.com/php/proxy.php)
- You have entered your twitterID into the correct place in the main.xml file. (eg. of twitterID: DonaghOkeeffe ) not (twitter.com/DonaghOkeeffe, or anything else )
- You have not altered the crossdomain.xml file.
- You have placed the crossdomain.xml file on to your server in the same folder as your index.html file.
- You have set the “preview” attribute of the Twitter tag in the main.xml file to “false”.
If you have done all of these steps, then the Twitter reader will work perfectly. If it is still not working, you have done something incorrectly. Don’t forget to clear your cache and delete your cookies when testing.
What fonts are used in this template, and where can I find them?
The fonts used in this template are as follows:
Heading & Title Font: Titillium
This is a free font and can be downloaded from here.
Main Body Font: FFF _Corporate
This is a commercial font, which is available from www.fontsforflash.com. Buyers only need to have this font if they intend to open and edit the fla files. If a buyer would like to edit the flash files and does not wish to purchase this font, as straight swap of this font for a similar size pixel can be easily done.
To Substitute the Main Font:
- Open the fla file.
- If you do not have the font on your system, Flash will ask you if you would like to substitute the font.
- Select “Substitute Font”.
- Download a free size 7 pixel font form THIS PAGE
- Install the font.
- Once installed, this font will show up in the list of possible substitutes.
- Select the newly installed font and Flash takes care of the rest.
FFF _extra
This is a free symbol font, and can be downloaded from www.fontsforflash.com.
FFF _extra2
This is a free symbol font, and can be downloaded from www.fontsforflash.com.
Can I get the updates to this template free of charge? And how do I get the updated files?
Yes. All updates will be available free of charge to users who have already purchased the template.
To avail of this update, you must go to the downloads section of your account and re-download the template’s full package of files.
Please note that this does not affect the licence conditions under which the file was downloaded originally.
In addition, buyers should be aware, that replacing old Flash files with the updated files, any custom modifications which were made to the old files, will be lost.
How do I change the font size for the menu?
In this template, because the font is a pixel font you cannot change its size because pixel fonts are only designed to work at one size (specific to the design). Therefore if you wish to change the size you will need to substitute the font used in the menu. To do this you will need to open the solo_main.fla. If you don’t have that font installed (FFF_Corporate), Flash will ask you what font you would like to use as a substitute. Select one and click ok.
Now the substitute font will be set ot the same size as the previous one was (8px) so you will need to change this on an area by area specific basis. See the general font related FAQ above ^ for more info.
Specifically for the main menu look for the “cat” symbol in the library. This is the menu item symbol. Open this and change the font size in the textfield in that symbol.
Now reexport the main fla and you’re laughing!
