Nice. Cool effect with a small class and a easy way of implementing. Great job.

Thanks, guys!

I have a question for you, though. Is the pricing too high? Don’t get me wrong, I worked my tail off making this easy and useful; streamlining the code, taking care of garbage collection, creating pretty and useful documentation. But it’s not like this is something complex or in-demand. It’s a little bit of eye candy.

I don’t know. What do you think?

Hi,

great effect! i think the pricing is right, considering how much work must have went into making this..

anyway, can you please tell me one thing.. is there a way to decrease the CPU load? Right now the effect breaks the image into really fine (1×1px?) particles.. and my images are like 800×600 which I guess are too big.. so i was wondering how i can increase the block size (particle size) to speed up this effect..

hope i’m making sense.. thanks much for this again

Hi Nishantsingh! Thank you for your purchase!

Unfortunately, this application was written and optimized for pixels only. Instead of cutting up the image, it takes color readings off all of the pixels and then puts the colors into special objects (that aren’t actually DisplayObjects, as they just hold color, position and velocity information) that wouldn’t know what to do with chuncks or squares of multi-colored pixel groups. I’ve optimized it as much as I know how (not writing to the stage between image updates, not using a bunch of DisplayObjects, not displaying “pixels” that appear off-stage, etc.) so it may just be that a 800×600 image is too large on some computers. :(

Good luck with your project, and I’m sorry this didn’t work out for you!

Hi, feraswheel!

There are two types of licenses available under which you can purchase this file. The first, cheaper Regular License does not allow you to use the work in something that you sell (for resale): (g) You must not incorporate the Work in a work which is created for Resale by you or your client. The second, more expensive Extended License does allow you to use the work in an item for resale: (f) You may incorporate the Work in a work which is created for Resale by you or your client…

You can see more details on the Licensing Terms page.

If you decide to use my Explode Anything class, I’ll be happy to answer any questions about what’s going on under the hood and be of any assistance I can. Incidentally, I love seeing anyplace my work is used, so if you do go for it, I’d love to see your game!

Thanks for your interest! :)

Any chance you can do this in AS2 ?

Hello Bob20000! Thank you for your inquiry.

Unfortunately, if this was done in AS2 (which would be done in a completely different way since the Bitmap Class, that makes this super fast, is only in AS3 ) it would crawl, even on the fastest of computers. There might be a way of making it on a project-specific basis, optimizing it based on the project’s specific parameters to make it faster, but not in the item’s generic form as it stands now.

Thanks, and good luck Flashing! :)
